Sympathy Services for a Friend or Co-worker

The loss of a friend or co-worker is difficult and, in many cases, grievous. The staff of KAY'S Petals & Plants understand your need to express your sorrow, sympathy and condolences in a beautiful and meaningful way. Our professional staff can assist you in choosing an appropriate floral tribute.

While the casket spray, family side pieces, hearts and crosses are reserved for the family, there are many appropriate arrangements for you to give.

Before making a selection the following are terms to help you better understand local funeral traditions and guidelines.

Traditional Tribute
This is the traditional and still popular style reflected in it's fan-shaped one-sided design. This piece gives a showy presentation at the funeral home. It can be easily adapted using seasonal flowers and colours. This piece is usually set near the casket, beside the family flowers. Normally a card is enclosed with this arrangement. The card can be the regular enclosure card or we can provide a full sized card to accommodate a large group of names or sentimental message. A script ribbon can also be added with "Dear Friend" or other appropriate message. We are able to customize the ribbon to suit your needs.

Updated or "Stylized" Tribute
Although the traditional tribute is still a suitable choice, at KAY'S we are noted for our creative tributes. Using baskets or unique containers or incorporating a figurine like an angel, we are able to convey your condolences in a memorable way. These arrangements may be placed near the family flowers or on one of the many side tables at the funeral home. Again cards or script ribbons can be added.

Side Table Arrangements
A table arrangement can also be sent to the funeral home. They can be arranged in many different ways including a vase, basket, or other specialty container. These beautiful arrangements generally offer a smaller presentation than a tribute, but they have an important benefit: because of their size and arrangement, the family has the option of taking this arrangement home to enjoy after the funeral. It is usually placed on one of the tables at the funeral home.

Living Garden
Another thoughtful and long-lasting tribute is a dish-garden planter or blooming plant. A dish-garden planter is a living assortment of green plants in a basket, ceramic or other type of container accented with fresh flowers or "silk" flowers for colour. Sometimes twigs, girds or butterflies add a natural touch. A blooming plant by itself is also a welcome tribute. Plants have the benefit of being enjoyed long after the funeral is over as a reminder of your thoughtfulness.

Statues and Figurines
You may want to consider adding a statue or figurine to your floral arrangement. We have options like angels that can be incorporated into a fresh floral arrangement or green planter. Depending on their size and you preference these statues can either be the focal point of the arrangement or an accent to it. These sentimental additions make it a cherished keepsake for a family member. We can also incorporate an item you bring in as well.
